inergen fire suppression system

IG-541 inergen fire suppression system

Inergen fire suppression system is a mixture of natural gases consisting of nitrogen, argon, and carbon dioxide. It does not have ozone depletion potential, does not cause global warming, does not produce unique chemicals with an extended atmospheric lifetime, and does not produce toxicity issues associated with chemically derived halon alternative extinguishing agents.

inergen fire suppression system is an effective extinguishing agent that can be used to extinguish various types of fires. The inergen fire suppression system is designed to provide total flooding protection for Class A surface fires, Class B flammable liquids, and Class C fires occurring in enclosed spaces by reducing the oxygen content below the level that supports combustion. IG-541 inergen fire suppression system has passed the inertness capacity test of FMRC. Tests have shown that IG-541 inergen fire suppression system can effectively suppress the combustion of propane and methane gas mixtures with air at design concentrations between 40% and 50%.

The principle of the IG-541 inergen fire suppression system

Inergen fire suppression system by reducing the oxygen content to a level that supports combustion. When the inergen fire suppression system is discharged into a room, it introduces a proper mixture of gases, allowing people to breathe in an environment with reduced oxygen content. Essentially, it enhances the human body’s ability to absorb oxygen. Normal atmospheric air in a room contains about 21% oxygen and less than 1% carbon dioxide.

When the oxygen content is reduced to below 15%, most common combustibles will not burn. inergen fire suppression system reduces the oxygen content to approximately 12.5% while increasing the carbon dioxide content to about 3%. IG-541 effectively lowers the oxygen concentration, preventing the combustion reaction from continuing, thus achieving the purpose of extinguishing the fire.

Unique Features of IG-541 inergen fire suppression system

Rapid Fire Extinguishing: It quickly suppresses the fire by reducing the oxygen concentration.

Safety: When used at designed concentrations, it is safe for humans and will not cause heart discomfort, maintaining arterial blood oxygen and mental performance even at low oxygen levels.

No Chemical Reaction: Unlike some chemical gaseous extinguishing agents, IG-541 does not react with the fire to produce toxic or corrosive byproducts.

Cost-Effective: Compared to some chemical agents, IG-541 is cost-competitive and does not take up valuable floor space as cylinders can be placed away from the protected area.

Remote Storage: IG-541 can be stored remotely, up to 100 meters away from the protected area, meaning a single cylinder bank can economically protect multiple areas.
